Frequently asked questions
What counts as a search?+
One query to the search or typeahead API. The SDKs debounce keystrokes, so a visitor typing out a full query usually counts as a few searches rather than one per letter.
What counts as an AI answer?+
One generated answer from the Ask endpoint, including follow-up questions in chat mode. Searches and typeahead don't count toward your AI answer quota.
What happens if I hit a limit?+
Search keeps working when you reach a limit. AI answers pause until your next billing cycle, or resume immediately when you upgrade. We'll email you before you get close.
Can I change or cancel plans anytime?+
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. You can cancel anytime from the dashboard.
How is this different from Algolia?+
Algolia bills per 1,000 searches and per 1,000 records, which makes bills hard to predict, and its AI features cost extra. Hopfield plans are flat with generous caps, and AI answers are included on every plan.
